The Nebraska Canvas Consortium

Digital learning environments are most effective when they are consistent, well-supported, and accessible to all educators and students. The Nebraska Canvas Consortium exists to ensure schools across Nebraska have access to a reliable learning management system (LMS), along with the support needed to implement it effectively.

Through a statewide, collaborative model, the consortium:

• Expands access to a high-quality LMS for districts of all sizes
• Reduces costs through coordinated purchasing and shared services
• Supports consistent, effective use of digital learning tools across schools

This work reflects a commitment to ensuring that technology is not just available, but meaningfully integrated into teaching and learning.

The Nebraska Canvas Consortium provides schools with access to Canvas and the systems needed to support its implementation.

At a high level:

• Districts and schools use Canvas as their learning management system to support instruction, communication, and organization of learning
• The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) manages the statewide Canvas instance, including licensing, infrastructure, and system-level coordination, and NDE partners with the ESU Coordinating Council in supporting statewide priorities and alignment.

Join our monthly administrative gatherings designed exclusively for Nebraska Canvas administrators. These meetings last approximately one hour and are held virtually via Zoom. To be added to these monthly meetings please email Shara Johnson at sjohnson@esucc.org. Each meeting follows a structured agenda:

• Exploring One Big Idea: An educational segment to foster growth in Canvas proficiency
• Canvas New Releases: Uncovering the latest features and enhancements that contribute to Canvas greatness.
• Questions and Extras: During this time, we answer questions, talk about upcoming PD opportunities, or extras as they relate to Canvas.

Our team of Nebraska Canvas specialists is eager to visit your school! Whether it involves collaborating with administrators to implement Canvas effectively or assisting your staff in becoming proficient with Canvas, our experts are ready to support you. The Nebraska Canvas Hub is a continuously evolving, asynchronous resource designed to support educators, administrators, and districts in maximizing their use of Canvas. This hub provides access to best practices, training materials, course design resources, and district-shared examples—all in one convenient place – that lives on your own school’s Canvas dashboard. Join us for a morning of practical, ready-to-use strategies to make Canvas work better for you. This virtual event is designed for K–12 educators of all experience levels and will focus on simple ways to build confidence, save time, and create more effective courses.

On the day of the event participants can choose from a variety of sessions, including getting started with Canvas, time-saving tips, accessibility, AI tools, and reusable templates. You’ll walk away with ideas and resources you can use right away in your classroom.
